According to my mom, I was a fussy little guy as an infant. The only thing that would chill me out was listening to a cassette of Paul Simon’s Graceland over and over. I guess I had good taste even back then.
But seriously, I’m frickin’ pumped about our next tribute coming up on Friday, June 14th at The Pour House. The Shakedown is covering classics from Paul Simon’s amazing body of work. Me and Julio Down By The Schoolyard, Still Crazy After All These Years, 50 Ways To Leave Your Lover, Cecilia, Mrs. Robinson. I’ll try not to play all of Graceland, but at least you understand why it might be inevitable.
Doors open at 8.
The Shakedown will be joined by the incomparable Jeanne Jolly for the Paul Simon tribute. I don’t even know which songs she’ll sing lead on, but the last time she sang with us for our Sam Cooke tribute, it sounded like this:
For people who want to really get amped on some Paul Simon, this book by Robert Hilburn was great.
These tributes tend to sell out, so get your tickets in advance. We can’t wait to share this music with y’all.
